Outside Inside Music
I thought - what a perfect song after I heard Michael Logozar's tune called Autumn Rain, for the day was just what he described in music. Under a somber gray sky, the rains came and convinced many of the golden leaves to fall as the mountains watched in awe. An ominously cold wind came from the southwest with winter on her lips. With the rain, colors were enhanced, thoughts took shape and everyone knew that after fall convinced the earth to begin her winter slumber, the spring would always be on the other side of the globe. The cut is from Logozar's new release Coming Into View, ten tracks of soothing solo piano made just for such a time. Or any time.

Pianist Michael Logozar began his musical career at the age of four. I can imagine how tiny fingers teased the black and white keys and then how twenty years later music issued forth from an indomitable spirit. Although Michael learned from a classical foundation, after hearing David Lanz and Michael Jones, he knew that a softer approach was his muse. Today he writes filmscores, television music and he wins prestigious music awards. However, what he does well is play piano, solo style.

As the title of the piece implies Michael write music with outside labels, but his music is for the inner being. His compositions are contemplative contemporary themes that border on the pastoral. Every track is pleasing to all of the musical senses.

Orchard Hill is a friendly, familiar kind of tune. I hope that every town has an Orchard Hill. Tall, majestic oaks stand guard amidst sunny, blue skies. Kids on bikes speed along to daily new adventures and neighbors wave as they sweep the steps of old, two story dreams. Michael's tune is free flowing, warm and somehow comforting.

Linger had that serenade quality. Sparkling, bright and calming, but this one does not put you to sleep. It makes you daydream. Your gaze is ushered to the horizon and your thoughts are miles away. We need daydreams in our lives. That’s how we establish a sense of hope in our everyday lives. All it takes is that one thought, that one memory to keep us going. All we have to do is linger.

My lazy fall afternoon continued. The wind got a little more blustery and the leaves leapt from their perches for the false safety of the ground. One of the best tunes on the album came on called If I Could. It was a bittersweet song of possibilities. As mere mortals, we have just so much power, but sometimes we are hopeful of what can be done. There is something great about spirit, for it keeps the heart beating, the blood flowing, and the fire in the belly burning. Michael's beautiful song is about spirit and what might be done with the right opportunity.

Coming Home brings my day and the album to a close. I look out the window and see that the wind has calmed and a mist has enshrouded the mountains. It is a time for rest. A time for sleep and more dreams. The song reminds me about what it is like to be safe, warm, and graced with the love of family. Night is falling, but Michael Logozar's music remains in my spirit. It is there to encourage faith and dreams. Michael's picture is on the cover of the album, a bit blurred. After hearing his wondrous music I can see him now, Coming Into View.
