Welcome
ZoneMusicReporter will once
again host the ZMR Music Awards in 2013. We have traditionally held the
awards as a web-based event. In 2004, we thought
about the possibility of holding a LIVE AWARD PRESENTATION
Show in New Orleans. Being just three 3 years into our representation of the genre, we were not sure
if the timing was right to attempt such an event. Then in 2005, a little storm named Katrina crushed this idea since all
of the appropriate venues to hold such an event were destroyed. If fact, the Joy theater took on anywhere from 3 to 8 feet of water and thus
closed the venue. Well, all that has changed and the iconic venue re-opened last December and
is the perfect place to hold our event.
The Joy Theater is a renovated movie
palace that has been converted into a state-of-the-art concert venue and
has been booked to hold the ZMR Music Award Presentation Show on
Saturday May 11, 2013.
We cannot overstate our excitement for this event. It
will be the perfect weekend to celebrate, not just this year's Award
Nominees, but also the genre that we represent as a whole. The emcee for the show is Renee Blanche, host of "Night Tides" on KCUR-FM in Kansas City.
The line-up of performers is outstanding and covers most of the musical styles that ZMR represents.
These artists have generously donated their time, talent and effort to make this show a night to remember. All of the proceeds will be used to cover the
cost of the show, and the remaining funds will be used to seed next year's Award show. In addition, we would like to thank the generous sponsor donations we
received from many of the artists that believe in this endeavor. Without your initial support, this show would not have been possible. Our work is
not complete. The next effort is to fill all of the 650 seats in The Joy Theater.
There has not been an event of this nature designed and geared to you, the folks that we
represent at ZoneMusicReporter, since we have been in business, and it is high time that such a
celebration happens. May 11, 2013 promises to be a magical evening! Looking forward to meeting all of you.
